To enhance data security of the AliExpress platform and sellers, as well as to improve the efficiency and quality of interconnection between open platforms, the original AliExpress open platform has been completely migrated and upgraded to a new open platform.

This new open platform directly interconnects with the Taobao open platform of the Alibaba Group. Software developers can use a Taobao account or Alipay account to log in to the platform and submit applications. All developers must be enterprises.

The AliExpress open platform supports two types of developers:

1. Self-developed developer, who is also an AliExpress seller and develops its own software for its own store.
2. Commercial software developer, who is also known as an independent software vendor (ISV) and develops software for all AliExpress sellers. Sellers are able to obtain authorization and use such software only after purchasing it from Service Market.

Developers can choose a developer type based on their own application scenarios and check the operation manual based on the developer type.
